Uganda: This 12 months’s Joe Walker Remembrance Stroll Flagged Off

Former Uganda Cranes captain, Dennis Onyango has flagged off a staff of walkers led by journalist Joseph Beyanga, popularly referred to as Joe Walker, for a 60 kilometre highway security stroll.

The 2024 Remembrance Relay Stroll organized in a relay format is aimed toward commemorating lives misplaced on Uganda’s roads and elevating consciousness in regards to the significance of highway security.

Whereas flagging off the walkers this morning on the Sheraton Resort Kampala, Onyango emphasised the significance of highway security consciousness, noting that many lives are misplaced on the roads and calling for elevated vigilance from all highway customers.

“Once I received the invite, it was an honor, as a result of we lose lots of people on the highway. We have to be vigilant on the highway. We should take into consideration the individual within the highway, whether or not it is a husband, a spouse, a child, as a result of all of us must stay our lives, but it surely begins with us,” Onyango stated.

He pressured the significance of reminding individuals that each life issues, particularly throughout the festive season when the push and pleasure typically result in neglecting highway security.

“Highway security consciousness is essential, as a result of we all know throughout the festive season, all of us get a bit bit busy and neglect that life is essential and another person’s life can be necessary. So to make individuals conscious that everybody’s life is necessary, it is essential, and for me, it offers me an honor to be a part of this journey.”

Joseph Beyanga, popularly referred to as Joe Walker, acknowledged that the first goal of the stroll is to honor lives misplaced in highway crashes and to convey a robust message in regards to the want for safer roads.
