The world report within the indoor mile belonged to Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse for a mere 5 days. On Thursday, on the Indoor Assembly Lievin in Lievin, France, Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen clocked 3:45.14 to smash Nuguse’s time by practically 1.5 seconds, including a fifth world report to his resume. And to high it off, his 3:29.63 break up at 1,500m broke his personal 1,500m indoor world report from 2022.

The highly-anticipated race marked Ingebrigtsen’s first-ever indoor mile. In a packed stadium, the 24-year-old headed into the ultimate lap with a commanding lead; WaveLight know-how marking the trail of Nuguse’s world-record efficiency trailed behind him. Ingebrigtsen handed the 1,500m en-route practically two seconds faster than the American had 5 days earlier, and gained the race by greater than seven seconds.
