In the last edition, Dhoni handed the captaincy to Gaikwad; we expected the previous season to be his last, but Thala will play in IPL 2025. Fans anticipated that Dhoni would captain CSK for IPL 2024 before the season began, leading to their retention decisions. In addition to the legendary captain, CSK retained Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ravindra Jadeja.
