Ben Higgins, who grew to become British indoor 400m champion three years in the past, has needed to retire from athletics on account of a “coronary heart challenge”.
The 24-year-old revealed on his Instagram that he needed to step away from the game after receiving medical recommendation from docs.
“After deep reflection and private contemplation, I share the troublesome resolution to step away from athletics, a sport I’ve poured my soul into for the previous 17 years”, Higgins stated. “After a lot medical recommendation, I’ve been informed that I have to put an finish to my athletics profession to on account of coronary heart challenge.

Higgins leaves athletics with a packed CV, having represented Nice Britain at a number of worldwide championships.
On the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, he was a part of the boys’s 4x400m squad that positioned sixth, combining with Alex Haydock-Wilson, Sam Reardon and Man Learmonth to clock 3:08.60 within the Serbian capital.
Then, on the 2023 European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Higgins – alongside Reardon, Joe Brier and Lewis Davey – recorded a mark of three:08.61 within the males’s 4x400m relay, ending fifth within the last.
Domestically, Higgins excelled and have become British indoor 400m champion in 2022, edging out James Williams in Birmingham.
