Armand Duplantis captures the gang, and one other world file, on the Olympics

As Monday’s competitors at Stade de France wound down there was one remaining matter to be determined, and one competitor with each set of eyes upon him. Having already captured gold within the pole vault — defending his title from the Tokyo Olympics — Armand “Mondo” Duplantis had one remaining try at 6.25 meters, a top that might break his personal world file.

With over 70,000 spectators clapping in unison, urged on by Duplantis himself, and the 2 athletes who would be a part of him on the rostrum appearing as his hypemen, Duplantis rocketed down the runway and propelled himself skyward.

And into the file books as soon as extra:

As he crashed again to Earth Duplantis started to have a good time, pumping his proper arm as he knew one more world file was his. The group at Stade de France roared to life, and the Swedish athlete roared himself at his accomplishment. Duplantis then sprinted over in direction of his household and family members within the stands, earlier than taking victory laps with American silver medalist Sam Kendricks, and bronze medalist Emmanouil Karalis from Greece:

Then it was time for the compulsory photograph by the file, not the primary time Duplantis has posed for such an image:

That is now the ninth new world file set by Duplantis, who first broke the world file again in 2020 with a vault of 6.17 meters at a meet in Poland. Since then Duplantis has frequently bested his earlier world file by one centimeter at a time. In April of this 12 months, he set the mark of 6.24 meters at a meet in China, after which on Monday it was time for the mark of 6.25, which he achieved on his third try, with gold already in his hand.

And there could also be an excellent monetary cause behind this technique.

As famous by the Wall Avenue Journal on Monday, with every new world file comes a big monetary bonus, between $30,000 and $100,000 relying on the occasion.

So when Duplantis units his eyes on his subsequent world file, don’t be shocked if the try is available in at 6.26 meters.
