SMAT 2025 Final: Mumbai will lock horns with Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 final at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 15. Ranji champions Mumbai stormed into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 final after they defeated Baroda by six wickets in their semi-final clash at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
Opting to bowl first, Mumbai rode on an impressive bowling performance to restrict Baroda to 158/7 in their 20 overs. Suryansh Shedge picked up two wickets, while Mohit Avasthi, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian and Atharva Ankolekar bagged one wicket each for Mumbai.
In reply, Ajinkya Rahane’s 56-ball 98 and captain Shreyas Iyer’s 46 off 30 balls helped Mumbai chase down the target in just 17.2 overs to register a comprehensive win in Bengaluru. Earlier, Mumbai finished on top of SMAT 2024 Group E standings with five wins and one loss to book their place in the quarter-finals. They later beat Vidarbha by six wickets in their quarter-final encounter.
On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh defeated Delhi by seven wickets in their semi-final clash to reach the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 final on Friday. Madhya Pradesh restricted Delhi to 146/5 in their allotted overs after electing to bowl first.
