This Day in Monitor & Subject–October 29

 

1911—Competing at Celtic Park on NY’s Lengthy Island, Matt McGrath made good use of his one throw within the hammer, setting a pre-IAAF World File of 187-4 (57.10).

      4-time Olympian was the gold medalist within the hammer in 1912 and received silver medals in 1908 and 1924, the latter when he was 46-years previous!

      The native of Eire was inducted into the U.S. Corridor of Fame in 2006
