Abortion abolitionists protest exterior of an IVF clinic in Texas.

In the previous few years, greater than a dozen states have enacted legal guidelines that ban virtually all abortions. Some embody exceptions for rape, incest, and to guard the lifetime of the mom. However a small, vocal group of anti-abortion activists say even these exceptions are morally flawed. They wish to see a ban not solely on all abortions but in addition on some fertility therapies, together with IVF. They consider an embryo deserves the identical rights as any human.
On this episode of The Sunday Story from Up First, NPR’s Sarah McCammon takes us to a protest exterior an IVF clinic and talks to activists who name themselves “abortion abolitionists.” These activists say their aim is to show their beliefs into coverage and are heartened by the progress they’ve made.
