5 native terrorists killed, 2 captured in arrest ops in Lanao del Norte

ILIGAN CITY — 5 members of Islamic State-linked Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) terrorist group had been slain whereas two others had been captured in a joint army and police operation on Tuesday within the inside village of Bangko in Sultan Naga Dimaporo city, Lanao del Norte.

The operation was launched at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Brig. Gen. Anthon Abrina, commander of the Military 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, advised the Inquirer.

The troopers and personnel of the Police Regional Workplaces 9 and 10 had been out to serve arrest warrants in opposition to Uya Dama Munagen, also called Lagbas, and Musa Monagen Dama, each recognized as members of DI, for homicide, kidnapping, and critical unlawful detention costs.

Because the authorities approached the world, they had been fired upon, triggering a fierce 30-minute change of gunfire, Abrina mentioned.

Amongst these killed had been Munagen and Dama, Abrina added. Of the 2 armed males captured, one sustained critical accidents and was rushed to a neighborhood hospital for remedy.

Recovered from the scene had been two pistols, three M16 assault rifles, three M1 Garand rifles, assorted rifle magazines, an undetermined quantity of various ammunition, ammunition clips for M1 Garand, and two fragmentation grenades, Abrina mentioned.

The swift actions and seamless coordination between the PNP and the Military had been important in addressing the threats posed by these people.” Viray mentioned.

Additionally becoming a member of the operation had been Military troops from the third Scout Ranger Battalion, fifth Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the first Gentle Response Firm.
